We're always delighted when an ECAA member gets good news!

Michael Gillespie has been awarded the Shirl Smithson Memorial scholarship from the Oil Painters of America organization. The merit-based scholarship is $500 tuition for a workshop with a nationally recognized artist.

    Congratulations Mike!

    LETTER FROM THE PREZ...

Happy New Year!  I hope Santa brought you everything you wished for!  It's been a wonderful 2017 for ECAA and we can hardly wait to get started on 2018.

New Website!  This Newsletter is being sent from our new "member interactive" website.  It's still in the design stage, but for the most part, it's ready to go. There is the "public view" that visitors can see, and a "member's view" that gives you extra access when you log in with your email and unique password. I'll be sending you a "how it works"letter in a few days...meanwhile, if you want to take a "test drive", this link is the temporary website address until we can get the Domain change completed:

    ecaa@wildapricot.org

Log in at the upper RH corner with your email. and click on "forgot password".  You'll be prompted to create your own password.  Once you're logged in, you are now viewing as a member with access to Members Only pages....click on your profile & make sure your information is correct. Click on the "Members" tab.  This is only visible to members.  Please note that we will be posting the current volunteer calendar & weekly schedule on this page.  More on that when I send out the "how it works" email.

The Silent Auction at our annual Holiday party was a huge success!  Bravo ECAA members! We raised $800 through your participation and generosity.  We will be presenting a $400 check each to CASA of Ellis County and Texas Baptist Home for children.  Both of these worthwhile organizations will be purchasing art supplies for kids in their care.   I'm so proud to e a part of this Association!

January...especially in the  1st 10 days - is very difficult to get someone to come to Waxahachie and give a demonstration....so I will be this month's demonstration artist since I only have to drive a mile !  I' promise to do my best to complete a good watercolor and at the same time give you some tips about my process.  See you next Monday night!

    Tina

Please join us as we welcome ECAA member and President

    TINA BOHLMAN

    "Western Transportation"  16 x 16 Watercolor

A Texas native, Tina Bohlman has used the state in which she was raised as both the inspiration and the canvas for her art.  A self-taught artist, Bohlman is well versed in several mediums but favors watercolor and oil to create breath taking plein air paintings and brilliant rural landscapes.

Bohlman is a veteran of numerous competition plein air and "quick draw" events annually, including Plein Air Easton (Maryland), Plein Air Southwest - Outdoor Painters Society, Sedona Plein Air Festival-Sedona AZ, En Plein Air Texas-San Angelo, TX, and Paint the Parks-Estes Park CO.

In a career span of 40 years, she has made quite an impact in her field earning more than 60 awards - two-thirds within the past 10 years - including 4 Best in Show titles.  In addition to exhibiting, participating in competition events and taking commissions for her work, she is the founder and chairperson of the annual "Paint Historic Waxahachie", a plein air event celebrating it's 12th anniversary in 2017, showcasing more than 50 artists.  Her work is collected worldwide; her originals hang in private and corporate collections in 34 states, Canada, Mexico, United Kingdom, Portugal, Germany, Austrailia, New Zealand and Republic of Benin, West Africa.
